The Max Brod Prize

The Franz Kafka Society organizes a student literary competition, the Max Brod Prize awarded for the best essay with both the aim and idea of supporting and encouraging the young people to independent thinking, deeper reflection about actual complicated social and cultural phenomenon, as well as cultivation of ability of precise and sophisticated written expression of their own opinion. This aim should be accomplished by the choice of the themes the young people are about to think. There is also included a literary theme that should help the contestants to being oriented to reading and independent interpretation of literary works. The prize was named after Max Brod, the famous person of the Central European culture, the writer and thinker, a tireless organizer of cultural life in the Czech countries and Israel.
